SBS Technologies Teams with Celoxica Ltd. to Broaden Access to FPGA Computing Development

Celoxica's DK Design Suite's development tools open up programming SBS Tsumani FPGA computing platforms

Albuquerque, NM (March 29, 2004) - SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE) ), a leading provider of embedded computing technology, today announced a newly-formed partnership with Celoxica, Ltd. to bundle Celoxica's Handel-C development tools with the SBS Tsunami FPGA computing platforms offering an alternate method of device programming. Now, embedded systems programmers can take full advantage of high performance FPGA computing in their applications using the familiar C language. Celoxica's DK Design Suite provides a proven C-based programming environment, Handel-C, which now opens up FPGA computing to the broad C programmer community. Previously, FPGA computing was limited to hardware engineers versed in VHDL or Verilog™, but now the SBS Tsunami FPGA computing platform lets C developers directly compile their code to a platform-optimized FPGA implementation without requiring specialized expertise or RTL languages. With this added boost in productivity, developers can easily migrate their DSP-based applications to FPGA-based solutions, bringing the price and performance advantages of FPGA computing over DSP processor-based systems to market faster with lower development costs. To ease programming chores, the suite's Handel-C synthesis tool performs re-timing of critical paths, automatic use of FPGA combination multipliers and on-chip resources, and automatic pipelining of synchronous memory blocks.
