SBS Technologies Introduces the CT8, a CompactPCI® Single Board Computer with Dual Gigabit Ethernet Channels

Delivers Integrated Low Power GHz Processor Speed and Full Hot Swap

  • Mobile Intel® Pentium®III Processor-M, 800MHz and higher
  • System/non-System slot functionality
  • Two Gigabit Ethernet ports 10/100/1000BaseT, PICMG 2.16 compliant
  • Up to 2GB SDRAM (133MHz) with ECC
SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE) today introduced the CT8, a high-performance 6U CompactPCI® (CPCI) single board computer supporting full hot swap capability. The CT8 supports system and non-system slot functionality and is configured with an integrated Mobile Intel® Pentium®III Processor-M (800MHz and higher), which offers low power consumption and eliminates the need for on-board ventilation. The product is being introduced at the Bus & Board Conference in Long Beach, California. Adhering to the PICMG 2.16 specification, the CT8 supports the 64-bit/66MHz CompactPCI bus, and with its two on-board Gigabit Ethernet channels and full hot swap capability, it is ideal for high availability systems. "As the latest addition to the SBS Gigaboards™ family, the CT8 is designed for use in a wide range of applications such as wireless, voice over packet, enterprise devices, medical imaging, printing, command and control, and high-performance test and measurement systems," states Jay Swenson, vice president of SBS, Commercial Group. "Our goal with this product is to provide superior transmission and processor performance, maximum design flexibility, and a rich feature set in a versatile, single slot design." A high level of functional integration (VGA/TFT, serial or parallel interfaces, hard disk or flash drive, CompactFlash™, intelligent platform management interface (IPMI) controller, etc.) within a single slot gives users the freedom to use the PMC interface required by the application. The CT8 is also optionally available for the extended temperature range of -40°C to +50°C. Software Support A wide selection of operating systems for the CT8 is under development: MSDOS 6, Windows 98/NT/2000, VxWorks, QNX, Linux (standard, real time), and LynxOS. Pricing and Availability The list price of the CT8 in a standard configuration is $3,500USD. Please contact the SBS sales team for OEM pricing. The prototype series is planned for March 2002; volume production is scheduled for June 2002.
