SBS Technologies, Inc., Modular I/O (formerly SBS GreenSpring Modular I/O) announces the availability of P-HSS2-II, a new PC&8226;MIP serial I/O module that offers a solutions-oriented approach to serial communications. It provides two channels of high-speed serial data communications channels on a Type II PC&8226;MIP module along with a broad range of Windows NT© and VxWorks software driver support. P-HSS2-II is the first in a complete line of serial I/O products. SBS Technologies, Modular I/O will introduce new modules for analog, digital, memory, avionics and telecom interfaces throughout the remainder of 1999.

Features and Benefits
P-HSS2-II provides two channels of software configurable RS-232/RS-422 high-speed serial data communications channels on a Type II PC&8226;MIP module. A maximum data rate of 10 Mbit/sec is supported for synchronous protocols; 2 Mbit/sec for asynchronous protocols. Each of the two channels is fully programmable to support many high performance serial communications protocols, such as asynchronous, monosync, bisync, HDLC, SDLC, LAPB, LAPD, ISDN and PPP. The P-HSS2-II uses a high performance Seimens' PEB20534 Serial Communication Controller with integral PCI bus interface. The module has a central receive FIFO and central transmit FIFO, each 128 deep by 32 bits wide. Four DMA controllers are available to enable the central FIFO to burst into shared memory.
