SBS Technologies, Inc., Embedded Computers introduces the CT7, a 6U CompactPCI CPU board ideal for high availability applications. Featuring hot swap capabilities, the CT7 can be used as either a system or peripheral CPU and saves space through a high degree of integration for single-slot operation. Through dual bus expansion, the CT7 supports up to 14 slots using standard backplanes. Mezzanine extensions can be achieved through PMC interfaces in order to implement application-specific I/O. The PMC interfaces&8217; 64-bit wide data bus ensures a high data transfer rate via the backplane. The CT7 can be used in telecommunications, industrial automation, military and aerospace, embedded systems or other applications that demand high availability, master/slave operation, higher slot capacity and increased memory. The ability for the CT7 to be used as a system CPU or as a peripheral CPU simplifies stock programs. The board determines its operation mode through an autodetect function, which allows for high performance multiprocessor systems to be set up based on a single CPU platform. The CT7 supports hot swap requirements so other peripheral cards can be removed from the system while it is still running. When the CT7 is operating in peripheral mode, the board itself can be removed from the running system. Price and Availability The CT7 will be available in the second quarter of 2000. Features The CT7 platform supports both Celeron&8482; (up to 433 MHz) and Pentium®III processors (up to 750 MHz) on socket 370, the Intel 82440BX chip set and up to 1 GB of memory with 100 MHz SDRAMs. The following options are available: VGA/LCD controller (C&T69030) with 4 MB SDRAM and a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200, up to two Ethernet interfaces for 10/100 Mbits/sec (front or rear I/O), a SCSI interface (20 MB/s) and a flash drive (2.5&8221;) with a maximum of 272 MB. The CT7 is also available with an optional extended temperature range (-40°C to +70°C). The BIOS enables it to operate without a keyboard, video interface and hard disk. Standard equipment includes an EIDE interface, a floppy controller, two serial interfaces, a parallel port and the system management bus. The keyboard, mouse, two USB connections, reset, watchdog and speaker are accessible via a multi-I/O connector. In addition there are LEDs on the front panel for hot swap, power OK and one which is user programmable.
