SBS Technologies, Inc., Connectivity Products announces the availability of its Model 993 Support Software for Intel-based PCI systems running the VxWorks real-time operating system (RTOS). Model 993 provides all tools required to access and control SBS PCI to VMEbus adapters, including Model 616, Model 617, and the new Model 618 adapter with fiber-optics and DMA.
"Model 993 enhances SBS PCI-VME adaptersí rich architecture and enables connectivity that essentially creates a virtual single bus for both VME and PCI. It provides the control and response needed for real-time projects without adding burdensome overhead," said Tom David, SBS Connectivity Product Manager for Adapters. "Many of our customers need real-time control of a VME system from a PCI host. The Model 993 VxWorks software driver provides low latency access to the VMEbus system for true real-time performance. Plus, the software makes adapter implementation easy."
Price and Availability
Model 993 will be available in April 1999, and will be included at no additional charge with Model the 616, 617 and 618 adapters.
Model 993 will be shipped on a convenient CD-ROM that includes all current adapter software drivers, downloadable manuals in PDF format, and installation instructions. Easy-to-use tables in both text and html versions are provided for locating the correct software for an adapter and operating system. Features
Model 993 facilitates application development, optimizes adapter performance and enables high-bandwidth, low-latency and deterministic connectivity while minimizing programming effort. After Model 993 installation, the connection between the PCI computer and VMEbus system is transparent. Model 993 VxWorks Support Software is written to enhance the strengths of the adapters' design. It fully supports memory mapping, interrupts across the cable, and DMA transfers. Interrupt response and DMA rates support real-time applications. Model 993 includes a VxWorks device driver, Mirror API library, installation tools, and example programs. Mirror API, the same software interface used for SBS Windows NT and Windows 98 drivers, facilitates application portability. About SBS Technologies, Inc., Connectivity Products
