SBS Technologies, Inc. Announces Breakthrough in 520 Family of Scalable WAN Interfaces

SBS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: SBSE), a leader in high-performance OEM telecommunications platforms and wide area networking (WAN) subsystems, today introduced the versatile and fully enhanced 520 family of WAN interfaces. The 520 Line of WAN interfaces introduces unsurpassed scalability, allowing OEM customers to seamlessly scale from T1/E1 to HSSI and DS3.

"With the introduction of the 520 family, SBS offers the most scalable mix of WAN interfaces available on the market. SBS' comprehensive WAN offerings coupled with our enabling software protocols allow us to provide OEMs with integrated telecom solutions featuring significant time to market advantages over competitive products," remarks Robbie Dhillon, vice president of technology and business development, SBS Technologies.

The unique architecture of the 520 Line offers flexibility, efficiency and modularity with an interchangeable family of physical interface modules. Featuring density, scalability, and low latency, the 520 family features a Quad Multi-protocol controller that supports four full duplex ports at 4 Mbps each and options for dual HSSI or a single DS3 channel.

"SBS' introduction of this enhanced line of 520 products demonstrates its ability to distinguish itself as an innovator in the demanding OEM telecommunications arena," said Tom McKearney, vice president and director of marketing, Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Computer Group's Telecom Business. "We are excited about the benefits of this versatile WAN I/O product family which complements Motorola's award-winning carrier-grade platforms such as the CPX8216, and we look forward to SBS' continued product development initiatives."

SBS is first introducing the WANic 520 Line of PCI WAN interfaces. The PMC (MAXIM 520 Line) and CompactPCI (ARIES 520 Line) versions of this family of adapters are currently in development. SBS' state-of-the-art "One Platform" approach for the 520 product line allows OEMs to maximize ROI and significantly reduce time to market as application bandwidth requirements scale. SBS' modular Driver Development Kit (DDK) software architecture also enables OEMs to take advantage of seamless driver portability across the entire 520 product family.
