Albuquerque, NM (December 10, 2002) - SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE), a leading provider of embedded computer technology, today introduced the C5C 6U CompactPCI single board computer with dual Intel Pentium III processors capable of meeting processing demands for conduction cooled boards deployed in harsh environments.

This single board computer (SBC) fills a unique space in the 6U CompactPCI Intel Pentium based product sector. It offers a high level of processing power and functionality for rugged embedded applications requiring a single-slot 6U CompactPCI format and conduction cooling", said Clarence Peckham, President of SBS Technologies' Commercial and Government Group.
The dual low voltage Intel Pentium III 512K 800 MHz or 933 MHz processors enhance application performance plus reduce power consumption to enable on-board fanless cooling. Two independent PCI buses decouple slow and fast on-board peripheral functions: a high-speed 64-bit/66 MHz bus facilitates high-bandwidth data intensive transactions, while the 32-bit/33 MHz bus can be used for slower peripherals. The C5C can function as a system or non-system slot controller.
Other C5C features include a SoundBlaster compatible audio interface, an Ultra 160 SCSI interface, primary and secondary IDE on the CompactPCI backplane, full hot swap support, 69030 Dual HiQ Video accelerator supporting 1200 x 1600 maximum screen resolution compatible with SVGA and VGA video modes, and up to 3 GB SDRAM. Dual Gigabit Ethernet interfaces supporting PICMG 2.16 are optional.
Conduction-cooled C5Cs support operating temperatures from –40 o to +85o C. A standard convection-cooled version is available with an operating temperature range of 0 o to +55 o C. The C5C is compatible with PC99 Design Guide-compliant software. SBS offers driver-level support for a number of common operating systems.

Pricing starts at $15,600 for conduction cooled C5C, which will be available March 2003.
