SBS Technologies Delivers PICMG 2.16 High Availability Platform with Full Line of Application Blades

SBS Technologies® (Nasdaq: SBSE) announces the Cascade® SE2.16, a highly flexible broadband processing systems platform for high availability telecommunications applications. As part of SBS' Cascade® High Availability Systems product line, the SE2.16 is designed for high-performance, high-bandwidth applications requiring packet switching based systems.
Cascade SE2.16 features a modular design that gives OEM customers maximum flexibility when building individual systems. Conforming to PICMG 2.16 standards, SE2.16 offers access to a wide range of SBS application blades that are available both independently and with the system configuration. As part of the standard HA platform, Cascade SE2.16 includes a Fabric Switch (FS2.16), System Controller (RSS14), and twelve I/O blades (IOB2.16).

Ideal for high performance telecommunications applications including carrier class gateways, wireless base stations, enterprise routers, switches, and broadband remote access services, the Cascade SE2.16 has 20 slots, 12 of which can be configured for any application, with two non-blocking fabric switch blades and two system controllers for enhanced system management. The chassis has a "high-availability" configuration with N+1 redundant power supplies, as well as fabric and controller modules. The chassis can be deployed as a standalone system without any fabric or controller cards, or as a full system.
