SBS Technologies(R) (Nasdaq: SBSE) announces the MAXIM 520 Line, a comprehensive offering of flexible, high-performance, and cost-effective WAN adapters.
Ideal for enterprise/edge network elements such as routers, remote access, wireless base stations, voice over IP gateways and VPN/firewall devices, the MAXIM 520 has interface options that range from synchronous serial (56K) to DS3/E3. The scalability of this product line allows customers to easily take advantage of a wide range of interfaces without having to develop software for multiple boards or multiple vendor products.
"The unique design flexibility, scalability and extensive software support available for the MAXIM 520 Line, make it among the simplest solutions for OEMs," stated Dan Moore, President of SBS' Communications Group. "Our OEM customers are facing increasing cost pressure when it comes to building access equipment. With our MAXIM 520 line of products, OEMs will have a variety of flexible, high-performance yet cost-effective options from which to choose. And, since this is a standard, off-the-shelf product, it will also reduce our customers' time-to-market."
The MAXIM 520 Line features a high speed, quad-port communications controller that supports an aggregate throughput of 52Mbps. It supports asynchronous, bisynchronous, SDLC/HDLC protocols and is responsible for extracting HDLC frames, buffering them in local FIFOs and transferring them into host RAM. The MAXIM 520 boards feature a low-latency PCI interface designed to burst into host memory at 132 Mbps.
The MAXIM 520 Line offers extensive driver support, including Windows NT, Windows 2000, VxWorks, Linux, FreeBSD and Solaris.
Pricing and Availability
MAXIM 520 products range from $425 (OEM quantities) to a list price of $1,455.
