SBS Micro Alliance announces the introduction of its new rackmount server enclosure, the Model 722. Optional hot swap power supplies and high availability make this ruggedized enclosure ideal for mission critical file server and telecom applications. "This new server enclosure meets the demanding requirements of telecom applications plus it offers the option of operating multiple systems in the same chassis," said Ed Larson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "This saves valuable rack space and dollars." The Model 722 (17"W x 21.5"D x 10.5"H) is priced from $1,995.00 (list) and is available immediately for standard delivery. High Availability The Model 722 is equipped standard with a 20-slot ISA passive backplane, but can easily accommodate a variety of PCI/ISA dual bus backplanes, offering 4, 6, or 16 PCI slots. Optional split backplanes are also available for multiple system operation. The enclosure is equipped with a standard 400W, 115/230 VAC (100K hour rated) power supply. Optional dual, hot swap power supplies (300W AC or 24/48 VDC) offer greater redundancy. Shock mounted peripheral bays support up to 10 disk drives, six of which are easily accessed through a hinged, front panel door. The six front accessible drive bays are mounted on a removable tray for easy access and service. Four internal 3.5" drive bays can be accessed through the rear panel. Positive pressure cooling is provided by four high efficiency, ball bearing fans with a total of 300 CFM. The front panel has a recessed power and reset switch as well as power-on and hard drive LED displays. There is room for additional system controls or special switches and connectors to meet customers' needs. The all metal enclosure also provides EMI/RFI shielding and line transient protection.
