SBS Micro Alliance announces the Model FTU-2000, its latest rackmount fault tolerant PC in its PRO Reliant Series. The FTU-2000 is a high-capacity, rugged unit that has been specifically designed for use as a telephony or telecommunications server. Other uses include central office, manufacturing, data acquisition, wireless communications and automatic test applications.
"The FTU-2000 is another example of SBS Micro Allianceís continued commitment to expand its product offering in the computer telephony arena," said Ed Larson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "As with most of our enclosures, this unit can be customized to a userís specific requirements. With eight drive bays, itís capable of housing multiple, separate computer systems, which is cost effective and saves valuable rack space."
Price and Availability
The Model FTU-2000 (17'W x 22.0'D x 12.25'H) is priced from $2,595.00 (list) and is available for delivery in November 1998. Features
The Model FTU-2000 is equipped with a 19-slot PCI/ISA (4 PCI slots) passive backplane, but can accommodate optional PCI/ISA backplanes with 6, 7 or 16 PCI slots. An optional power backplane is also available. The enclosure contains dual-redundant 400W AC hot-swappable power supplies (single or dual input 250W 48V DC optional), which allows the system to continue operation if one of the supplies malfunctions. The working power supply assumes the full systems load while the faulty supply is being replaced. Positive pressure, filtered cooling is provided by five high efficiency, ball bearing fans with a total of over 300 CFM. The three main cooling fans (90 CFM to 120CFM) are hot swappable without the use of tools. The two fans in the power supplies provide additional airflow. Washable air filters are an integral part of the front panel doors and are easily removable. It can also be optionally supplied with system monitoring, RAID controllers, and various PCI/ISA passive backplanes (including custom configurations). The enclosure comes standard with eight front accessible drive bays. Six 5.25' half-height horizontal drive bays can be equipped with optional removable 3.5' drives and two 3.5' vertical drive bays can be used for tape or floppy drives. The standard front panel is equipped with recessed power-on and separate reset switches, hard drive LED displays, keyboard connection, and system monitoring LEDs. All switches and drive bays are located behind the front panel doors that provide environmental protection and security. The front control panel can also be customized with up to 20 system indicator lights. The Model FTU-2000 can be integrated with a system monitoring function that monitors the various vital signs of the system and performs various alarming functions. The rear panel contains an input power connector (AC, DC, dual input DC) and an I/O area that is completely configurable to the end userís requirements (DIN connectors, DB9, DB15 and DB25). A single card hold-down bracket adds to the shock dampening attributes of the enclosure and is adjustable to accommodate cards of different heights to be secured. About SBS Micro Alliance
