SBS Embedded Computers Introduces Ruggedized VMEbus Processor Board for Embedded PCs

SBS Embedded Computers announces the availability of the VME-192, a Pentium-based single board computer designed for ruggedization for high performance commercial and telemetry applications. The VME-192 includes an on-board PMC slot, up to 64MB of EDO DRAM, 133 MHz Pentium processor, and up to 72MB of Flash Disk-on-Chip, all in a single VMEbus slot.

The VME-192 provides all of the features of a fully-configured PC/AT motherboard, along with additional features such as a built-in Ethernet interface, PMC interface, SCSI-2 interface, SVGA Video, and a compliant of standard desktop I/O including one parallel and two serial I/O ports, keyboard and mouse interface. The VME-192 allows the versatility for the end user to add application specific requirements, and is completely compatible with industry standard PC hardware and software. The VMEbus interface is implemented using Tundra's Universe II VMEbus Interface Controller. It provides a full VME64 interface including master, slave, interrupter, interrupt handler, and system controller function. Designed for ruggedization, the VME-192 circuit board meets the requirements for harsh applications. The board supports standard COTS applications with operating temperatures ranging from 0 to 55 Celsius, and non-operating temperatures ranging from -62 to 85 Celsius. The harsh environment board also supports more ruggedized applications, such as simulation and avionics.
