SBS Embedded Computers announces a new 6U CompactPCI Pentium CPU board designed specifically for industrial and MIL/rugged harsh environment applications. The CR6 offers users a full-featured design in single slot configurations. The All-In-One CR6 combines all relevant PC platform components on a single board, plus additional features like a CAN (Controller Area Network) interface for distributed I/O, and solid-state Flash disk drives. The CR6 routes all I/O functions to the backplane.
"The CR6 was specifically designed to meet the extreme requirements of industrial and rugged applications," said Clarence Peckham, President of SBS Embedded Computers. "With all I/O on the backplane and options for various levels of ruggedization, including conduction cooled, the board suits harsh environments applications with high shock, vibration, and extended temperature operating environments."
Price and Availability
The CR6 offers a cost-effective COTS solution for military and aerospace customers and industrial customers looking to integrate industrial PC technology. Pricing varies depending on board build configuration. A commercial version (CP5) starts at $2,100, while a fully ruggedized, conduction cooled CR6 starts at $6,400. Both versions are available immediately. Features
The board supports Pentium MMX CPUs up to 233 MHz; K6 CPUs up to 300 MHz; 128 MB DRAM; 256KB L2 cache; on-board Flash drive options up to 240 MB; PCI SVGA with 64-bit Windows accelerator and LCD flat panel interface; disk drive controllers; PCI Ultra wide SCSI-2; two 12 Mbit/sec highspeed USB channels; PCI 10BaseT and 100BaseTX Ethernet; and the standard serial and parallel I/O ports. The CR6 is available in various build grades from commercial to ruggedized extended temperature with a -40&402;C to +85&402;C operating temperature range. An additional feature for industrial applications is the on-board CAN bus option. CAN bus is a networked I/O fieldbus offering flexible I/O expansion and options using distributed CAN I/O modules. Software support includes Windows NT and 95, DOS, VxWorks and QNX. Windows CE certification is in process. About SBS Embedded Computers
