SBS Embedded Computers Announces New 6U And 3U CompactPCI CPU Boards With Workstation Performance

SBS Embedded Computers introduces the CP7 (6U) and CC7 (3U) All-In-One CompactPCI CPU boards that allow flexible configuration in processor, main memory and other on-board peripherals to meet customer requirements. Targeted for applications such as communications, industrial automation, scientific, imaging, medical and military, the boards deliver the highest system performance based on its Pentium© II processor and newest chipset generation.
"Starting with a 300 MHz Celeron&8482; processor (128Kbyte L2 cache) with the option to upgrade to a 450 MHz Pentium© II processor, the user can customize the CP7 and CC7 for his performance requirements and has room left for future upgrades," said Clarence Peckham, President of SBS Embedded Computers. "The boards offer front panel and rear I/O."

The CP7 and CC7 are available in First Quarter 1999 and are priced beginning at $2,200. Features
The local PCI bus supports a maximum data transfer rate of 132 Mbytes/sec. Integrated on the boards is a 64-bit VGA/LCD graphic controller (1600x1200), Fast-Ethernet-, SCSI and an EIDE controller. In addition to Windows© NT / 95 / 98, MS-DOS© and Solaris, the manufacturer supports real-time operating systems such as QNX© and VxWorks©. The user has the choice to select between a HDD (up to 8.4GB) or a Flash disk (up to 240MB). Optionally, there is a CAN interface (2.0) on the boards.
The 512 Kbyte L2 cache, the Intel chipset 82440BX and the new 100 MHz CPU bus interface allows maximum system performance. The 64-bit main memory is extendable from 8 to 512Mbyte SDRAM, and optionally available with error correction (ECC) technology. The entire memory area of 512Mbyte is cacheable. The board includes two USB-, four RS232/422/485-, one floppy-, one keyboard- and a PS/2-mouse interface, additional two enhanced parallel ports (EPP), real-time clock, watchdog and a programmable NMI timer (0.25 to 16msec) for hard real-time.
