SBS Bit 3 Operations announces the Model 15-904 IRIX support software for its real-time network and the Model 17-903 Windows NT support software for its Fiber-Optic PCI-VME Adapter.
The Model 15-904 IRIX support software is used on SBS Bit 3ís simultaneous real-time network, called Broadcast MEMORY. The software is compatible for IRIX 6.3 for most PCI-based Silicon Graphics Inc. workstations, such as the 02. The IRIX driver includes an IRIX device driver, Mirror API library, installation tools and example programs. The Model 15-904 enables use of C language pointers to access data on Broadcast MEMORY. Node monitoring routines and diagnostics make it extremely efficient and fast to identify network problems. "The combination of SBS Bit 3 hardware and software will enable a user to combine the resource of up to 16 SGI platforms into one network for real-time, simultaneous updating of computer node memory at 43MB/S rates," says Paul Tommerdahl, Product Marketing Manager, Real-Time Memory Networks. "The data updated at each node can be common to all nodes or unique to each node, depending on the memory segmentation definitions."
The Model 17-903 Windows NT support software is available for SBS Bit 3's Fiber-Optic PCI-VME Adapter Model 2706. These two products provide a high-performance, easy integration solution for interconnecting Intel-based PCs to remote VMEbus systems, thereby utilizing the advantages of both systems for real-time deterministic solutions. The PCI and VME systems can be separated up to 650 meters. The Model 17-903 includes a loadable Windows NT driver, Mirror API? library, and example programs. The combination of the Model 17-903 with the Model 2706 PCI-VME Adapter enables users to achieve full simultaneous transmissions from both systems, test/fault isolation, VME64 data access and 40MB/S transfers with a D64 VMEbus device. "The Pentium PCs running NT will function just like a VME SBC on the VMEbus system," states Tom David, Product Marketing Manager. "Also the Pentium PCs can use the VMEbus resources just like it had VMEbus memory and I/O right on its bus." Price and Availability
The Model 15-904 IRIX support software, list priced at $600, will be available October, 1998. The Broadcast MEMORY network is priced at $2871 per node using 256K Memory Node Cards in a 6 node configuration; with an 8M memory Node configuration, is priced at $3550 per node. The Model 17-903 Windows NT support software is included at no additional cost with the purchase of a Model 2706 Adapter. The software is available August, 1998. The Fiber-Optic PCI-VME Adapter, Model 2706, is available for immediate shipment and is priced at $4295. About SBS Bit 3 Operations
