SBS Bit 3 Operations announces the introduction of two high-performance PCI-to-PCI product lines - the Model 2500 Series Enhanced PCI Node Cards and the Model 2590 Series PCI Shared Memory Cards. The Model 2500 Series PCI Node Cards can function in a point-to-point connection or multipoint network as part of SBS Bit 3's Broadcast MEMORY&8482; product line. The Model 2590 PCI Shared Memory Cards support point-to-point functionality only.
Both card series have common features: 43M Bytes/sec transfer rate, fiber-optic interface to 650 meters, memory modules in 4 sizes (256K, 512K, 1M and 2M Bytes), and the same Windows NT Support Software, Model 15-901-1, supporting Intel x86 systems.
"The computer writes to a selected PCI memory space on one PCI system and is duplicated automatically in the second PCI system in a predefined memory space," said Jerry Medley, Director of Sales and Marketing of SBS Bit 3 Operations. "This essentially allows both systems to have the same memory contents almost simultaneously when either PCI system generates a write into this shared memory space."
Price and Availability
The Model 2500 Series PCI Node Cards are available for immediate shipment. A 256K Byte memory version, Model 2500-01, is priced at $3,450 (list). For first time buyers, SBS Bit 3 is offering a starter kit for any two 2500 Series PCI Node Cards and associated Support Software. Access latency is 4 microseconds with an additional latency of 10 nanoseconds per meter of fiber-optic cable. Link transfer of up to 43M Bytes/sec is achievable depending on system configuration and software efficiencies. Since these products are connecting two PCI systems at the physical layer with no protocol stacks, there is low CPU overhead. A simple C language pointer is used to access data. Model 15-901-1 Windows NT Support Software provides a loadable driver, a diagnostic program and extensive example programs. This software greatly simplifies writing portable code to use with other SBS Bit 3 products. The Windows NT driver provides memory-mapped C language pointer access, read/write access, node monitoring, write interrupts, interrupt notification, diagnostic tracing and memory synchronization.
