The PMC E1R features 1000Mbps rear I/O connections to the backplane, making it especially suitable for ground mobile or airborne applications. One of the biggest challenges faced by a system designer involved in the military or aerospace markets is the restrictive space envelope imposed by the vehicle, which makes rear I/O the preferred option. Radstone has engineered a powerful solution to support 1000Mbps networking through to the backplane - our latest PowerPC processor and G4DSP board families' feature dedicated balanced tracking optimized for high speed I/O signals routed to P0.  PMC E1R utilizes this balanced tracking to integrate Gigabit networking when used with these or other suitable host platforms. The conduction cooled PMC E1R module can also be usefully deployed to provide 10/100Mbps Ethernet in existing systems.  It supports full duplex operation to maximize the network's potential speed while accommodating the existing infrastructure. PMC E1R may be used with either switched networks or direct (point to point) wiring - a crossover cable is unnecessary as auto MDI/MDI-X crossover is supported. Featuring IP checksum and flow control, the module ensures data integrity even under heavy loading. With industry-leading throughput, low component count and automated configuration capabilities, the PMC E1R offers performance and high reliability for today's mission electronics.
