GE Fanuc Announces CPCI-7055 PowerPC®-Based CompactPCI® Single Board Computer

Huntsville, Ala. – October 31, 2005 – GE Fanuc Embedded Systems, Inc. announces the availability of the CPCI-7055 PowerPC®-based CompactPCI® single board computer. The CPCI-7055 utilizes the IBM 750GX PowerPC microprocessor offering processor speeds of 800 MHz or 1.0 GHz. And, the system’s next generation Marvell® Discovery™ III MV64460 PowerPC chipset is an integrated system controller designed for high performance embedded control application, offering a perfect solution for most Internet working applications. “The CPCI-7055 is the flagship of our PowerPC CompactPCI architecture line,” said Rod Rice, Vice President – Engineering, Embedded Systems. “The powerful IBM processor is mated with the industry’s most powerful system controller to yield one of the most impressive designs on the market.” Some of the features of the CPCI-7055 single board computer include: · Up to 64 Mbytes of Flash memory; socketed or soldered down banks of Flash are jumper-selectable for booting purposes; · Up to 2 Gbytes of DDR 400 SODIMM memory with ECC support; · Support for three 10 / 100 / 1000 Ethernet LANs; · IDE interface for hard disk drive support allowing support of several types of data transfers; · Linux and VxWorks BSP is available; · Support for IEEE 1386.1 PCI common mezzanine card specification with two mezzanine card expansion sites; and · A CompactFlash socket connected to the primary interface of the IDE controller. The bandwidth through the system controller is maximized by using 2 Mbytes of SRAM as a revolutionary ‘cross-bar fabric switch’ allowing ‘any-to-any’ connectivity of up to 100 Gbps of aggregate throughput, with non-blocking concurrent connections among all of the peripheral channels at full bus speeds. According to Rice, “all of this adds up to a top performance single board computer.” About GE Fanuc Embedded Systems GE Fanuc Embedded Systems is part of GE Fanuc Automation, a joint venture between GE and FANUC LTD of Japan.
