GE CEO Jeff Immelt Says Software, Analtyics are Path to Zero Unplanned Downtime
Just a few moments before the young General Electric (GE) executive standing at the podium introduced his CEO Jeffery Immelt, he mentioned that the GE event they were attending was not meant to be a sales pitch. No sooner had Immelt hopped onto the stage following his introduction then he vociferously disagreed. “I’m here to sell,” he said.
On the other hand, Immelt was scheduled at the GE Intelligent Platforms Business 2014 User Summit to speak about the Internet of things, and that’s what he did.
“All companies need to become Internet and software companies,” Immelt said. “The industrial world is changing dramatically, and those companies that make the best use of data will be the most successful.”
