Condor Engineering Introduces New Modular Avionics Controller for VME and VXI

Santa Barbara, CA – August 3, 2005 Condor Engineering, a leading provider of military and commercial avionics databus solutions, today announced a new family of multi-protocol interface products, the Modular Avionics Controller (MAC). This product family provides avionics engineers with a powerful and flexible single-slot solution for interfacing multiple avionics protocols on VME and VXI backplanes. "Our customers have told us that they desire hardware configuration flexibility, high performance and large numbers of ARINC 429 channels in order to simulate and test multiple aircraft configurations," stated Bill Weil, Vice President of Condor Engineering. "Our new Modular Avionics Controller family enables engineers to use fewer card slots, reduce software development efforts and reduce life cycle costs." Maximum ARINC protocol flexibility MAC products for both VME and VXI platforms provide two PMC mezzanine slots for Condor ARINC and serial data modules. User I/O is easily accessed via front panel connectors. Six foot cables to standard connectors are provided with every module. Up to 32 receive and 32 transmit channels of ARINC 429 can be supported in a single backplane slot. Many other configurations are available, starting from a minimum of two receive and two transmit ARINC 429 channels. Data rates, parity, filtering, message scheduling, error injection, self-test operation and many other protocol features are controlled on-board. All ARINC 429 channels are independent and capable of operating simultaneously with full data throughput. In addition to ARINC 429 protocol support, MAC configuration options offer concurrent, integrated support for numerous other two-wire ARINC interfaces including ARINC 419, 453, 571, 573, 575, 582, 585, 708 and 717. RS-232 and RS-422 serial communications interfaces are also supported. LabVIEW compatibility Support for National Instrument's LabVIEW graphical environment is available with Condor's CEI-LV product. CEI-LV provides ready-to-use LabVIEW application examples in VI source for ARINC 429, RS-232 and RS-422 that can be quickly integrated into a custom LabVIEW application. Pricing and Availability The MAC is available for immediate delivery with configurations starting at $3,200.
