ABOUT IEEE BOSTON SECTION
The IEEE Boston Section is a geographical organizational unit of the IEEE comprising of the following Massachusetts counties: Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Plymouth. It is one of the largest and most technically diverse sections in the IEEE with over 25 active technical society chapters and affinity groups. The Boston Section includes more than 8,000 members with more than 100 active volunteers organizing local IEEE Boston Section activities during the year. The section organizes and offers more than 100 free technical chapter meetings each year and 40-50 low-priced short courses for professional development and training.
In addition, to the chapter meetings and short courses, the section sponsors as many as seven conferences during a given year. The conferences that are held within the IEEE Boston Section draw international authors and papers, adding to the diversity and scope of the local IEEE activities. The section also offers social programs such as the section annual meeting, Milestone events, and other non-technical professional activities to round out the local events. The Section also hosts one of the largest and longest running entrepreneurial support groups in IEEE.
